Today we take a look at the rear view safety backup camera. This is a license plate mounted camera so you can see what's going on behind your vehicle and stay safe while you're out on the road. We'll have this mounted on a license plate bracket so this can go over the top of our license plate and just connect with the existing hardware there. It does come with two bolts and washers to replace that hardware if you need it, if you need a little extra length on that bolt.Our camera is nice and compact. It does have night vision capability. It's IP 68 rated which means it's going to be impervious to any kind of ingress from dust or moisture, so even if we're using this out in the elements, it shouldn't have any issues, no water or dust can seep into there.You'll also get the hardware or the wiring that you see laid out on the table here.

So we'll have a small connection point at the back of that camera, plugs into this camera cable, it just matches up and plugs in and then this will go to our length of wire. This is 10 meters long or about 32 feet, little over 32 feet and that can run up to our next wiring bundles. This is going to go to an RCA and that can connect to most different after market monitors. We do have a lot of options available here at etailer.com for any kind of monitors that you need, including ones from RBS.So those connections will just match up the ends there, get everything tightened down in place, and then this little portion is actually a sleeve that goes over that connection to help maintain a water tight seal, so it goes over that. It keeps everything nice and protected.This does not come with the monitor so you will have to pick one up separately.

We'll also have another cable here to connect into our system. This would be for our power connection, so you can plug that in there and then run those to power and ground on our vehicles. You can run that up to your battery or any other power source to get that running.We'll also get a small bracket and the hardware necessary if we wanted to take this off of the license plate mount and mount it somewhere else. So it has just this little piece of foam tape, you punch out the center and put our wiring through there so it gives you some options as far as getting this mounted up if you don't want it to be necessarily mounted on that license plate bracket. Also comes with a couple screws to help tighten that down if required.Let's talk about measurements here.

Our bracket overall is about 7 3/4 inches long. The distance between our mounting holes center to center is about 7 inches. Longest point of the bracket, it's about 1 3/8 inches. The camera comes off of the bracket by about 1 1/2 inches. That camera angle can be adjusted so you can get it where you want it to be.

There's that little screw on the side, so once you have it where you want it, you can just tighten that down and it'll stay in place. There's also a couple of little grommets that are already on the line so if you need to run this through any surfaces, you want to use those to help protect the wire and also to plug up any holes you might need to drill.Our smaller bracket measures about 1 3/8 inches by about 1 7/8. Again, our bundle of wire, 32 feet long or 10 meters, and then we'll get the other two wiring connections to get everything hooked up.It's compatible with any other monitor or GPS system that uses that AV input and it does come with a one year warranty from RVS.That's going to do it for our look at the rear view safety backup camera.

Can I Keep the Factory Backup Camera When Using 5th Wheel Tailgate on a 2019 Ram 2500
I do have an option for you but the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate part # VGD-10-4000 does not have a spot for the factory backup camera. Therefore you would either need to find a way to mount this yourself, go without, or use a new camera system. Availability of Camera Backup Kit Compatible with RCA Connectors
Although we do have camera kits that have RCA connectors, like Rear View Safety # RVS-771 and # RVS-778, unfortunately there are no adapters for the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 to work with RCA connectors. If you have a specific camera system you are trying to utilize just let me know what it is and I can check to see if we have something compatible.

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 does not have a larger monitor available than the 3.5 inch. They only offer a smaller one with 2.5 inch screen in # HM60195VA. Quick Disconnect for the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System
The Rear View Safety Backup Camera System part # RVS-778718N has two input ports, AV1 and AV2. Any input hooked up to the AV1 port will continuously show that feed on the rear view monitor.
