Can A Larger Monitor Be Used With Hopkins Smart Hitch System?
Question:
Can I larger monitor be substituted with the Hopkins 50002 Smart Hitch system?

Expert Reply:
The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 does not have a larger monitor available than the 3.5 inch. They only offer a smaller one with 2.5 inch screen in # HM60195VA. Unfortunately the monitors from other manufacturers are not compatible with this system.
If you want a larger monitor you will need to use a different system. I recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - Built-in Backup Sensors # RVS-5350 which has a 4.3 inch monitor.
You can also create your own system by parts like the Rear View Safety License Plate Backup Camera # RVS-778 and the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 7" Clip-On Mirror Monitor # RVS-770619P.

I've had two of these already, and water from high pressure car washes tend to penetrate the case, and the electronic components get wet and corrode leading to system failure. Has anybody figured ut a way to water proof these Hopkins Camera systems? The PC board where the components are is in black rectangular box behind where the license plate would be. You'd think it would be protected, but it's NOT waterproof! Thanks
