Colin: Hey guys, it's Colin here at etrailer. Today we're going to take a quick look at the folding bike pedals from Montague. Now, these bike pedals are designed so that you can fold them up and conserve on space. They're a nice upgrade from the standard platform ones, which just stay in their right spot. There's going to be a latch down here, we're going to stick our fingers up there and pull on it. That's how you fold it up.

And even though it's only conserving about three to four inches, that's still a good amount of space, and you're going to have another pedal folded up as well, so that could fold up with just the right amount of space you need to get your bike to fit where you need it to when it's folded up.When you're ready to go on your bike ride all you got to do is, after you get your bike folded out, just go ahead and bring your pedals up, you're going to hear it latch in place, and then we can't move it without pulling on that latch. We're still going to have reflectors on both sides of our pedal just for safety reasons, so they can be seen by headlights that are behind or in front of you. And you can see it's just a nice flat platform, which is going to do great job of having good grip. We see we still have the notches all the way around the bike pedal to make sure that whatever shoes we're wearing when we ride, we'll have grip on the pedals.Now I'll just go ahead and give you an example of folding the pedals up and then folding our bike up, just to give you an idea of that little bit of space it does help conserve. And we'll go ahead and just fold our pedals up first, just like I said, pull that latch, and then fold them down.

Don't forget, we have to take off our front wheel first. We'll pull that latch and our cam, fold it up. With the bike folded, you see that it still has taken off a good amount of that width, especially for the pedal on the opposite side of our handle bars. We can put this in our bag or we can put it in our storage area, wherever it will fit. Now just don't forget, even though it's only folding up and conserving just a couple of inches, maybe six or seven at most with both pedals, that little bit can go a long way in trying to store it.We'll go ahead and show you how to install it real quick, it's going to be pretty easy.

Now, one thing to keep in mind is with these bikes, on the left side, which you can actually tell which one it's for. There's an engraving on the front right there that has an L, and the other one's going to have an R. On the left side, you do have to turn it to the left to get it tight. Usually with everything else, to the right, but with this bike, on the left side, it's going to be turning it to the left.And also keep in mind, if you turn the pedal itself, nothing's really going to happen. The pedal's going to turn and might thread on there, but the pedal's just going to turn.

We're going to need to hold onto the pedal and then turn the bolt right there. I need to apply a little pressure, and then now you're going to feel some resistance. Just get it as far as you can with your hand, and then there's an included tool which we're going to grab real quick, right here, that we can use to tighten it down all the way. It'll be pretty easy just to put it on there and then just bring it around in the circle. There we go. Once it's tight, spin your pedal a little bit, pull on it, make sure it's tight, and you're good to go as long as you repeat this for the other side. Thank you all for watching.
