The Montague Allston is a full-size road bike that offers all the features of a regular road bike with the added benefit of the folding design. Boaters will love it for its carbon belt drive and other corrosion-resistant components. The included cargo rack is great for carrying purchases made while touring seaside communities. It also has a DirectConnect latch that ensures the bike won't fold up and collapse while you're riding. And, unlike a regular bike, you can place this bike in a storage compartment on your boat so it's out of sight and out of the way.

Quick and Easy Folding Design

The Allston takes approximately 20 seconds to fold up. You can do it in 4 easy steps. Undo the latch on the back of the seat post and rotate the cargo basket under the rear tire to convert it to a bike stand. Open the quick-release latch on the front hub and pull the spring to remove the front wheel. Open the CLIX DirectConnect latch under the top tube and fold the bike in half. Use the included hook-and-loop strap to secure the front wheel to the folded bike.

The bike weighs just 30 lbs so it's easy to carry wherever you go. It's easy to haul up and down stairs or load in and out of your trunk or truck bed.

1. Carbon Belt Drive -
   The Gates 46T carbon belt has nylon teeth reinforced with carbon fiber cords. Paired with the internal hub on the Allston, the belt is nearly silent as you pedal. It won't corrode, which contributes to making this a great bike for touring seaside communities and for biking in other wet or muddy conditions. It's also easier to clean than a standard bike chain, it won't stretch over time, it doesn't need lubrication, and it requires little to no maintenance.
   
   
2. Shimano Alfine 11-Speed Gear System -
   The Shimano Alfine 11-speed gear system is sealed inside the rear hub. This keeps it protected from water and dirt. Since it's sealed inside the hub you don't have to worry about a broken derailleur. It also works in conjunction with disc brakes, which makes this bike great for riding in wet environments. The drivetrain uses a helical-shaped gear system that is lubed with oil so the gears shift smoother when compared with gears that use grease. Shifting is also incredibly quick since you don't have to wait for the chain to move up or down to the next gear.
   
   
3. Vee Trekking Tires -
   700c Vee trekking tires are extra-wide so they grip the road better than standard bike tires, and they're super quiet too. The tires are constructed with a hard-rubber compound that provides excellent rolling resistance to help you conserve your energy when riding on flat pavement. This compound is also puncture-resistant. This helps relieve some of the concerns about getting a flat tire when you need to be getting back to your boat. The wheels have double-walled rims that provide increased support when compared with single-walled rims. The tubes have Schrader valves with cores that are easy to remove.
   
   
4. RackStand Cargo Rack and Kickstand -
   The RackStand is a sturdy steel cargo rack over the rear wheel that lets you carry your gear. This eases your burden so you don't have to carry your gear in a clumsy backpack. You can convert the RackStand into a kickstand by simply opening the latch that attaches it to the seat post and rotating it underneath the tire. This also give you support under the bike for cleaning and maintenance. The fender for the rear wheel is also integrated into the RackStand.
   
   
5. Speedline Gel Saddle-
   The Speedline gel saddle is cushioned, ergonomic, and comfortable to ride on even for long periods of time. It's also easy to adjust to accommodate your height, and you can do it in seconds. Just loosen the quick-clamp, slide the seat post to your desired height, and close the quick-clamp.
   
   
6. Heavy-Duty Aluminum Frame with 5-Layer Brushed Coating -
   The 19" frame is made out of 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum tubing that is lightweight yet stronger than standard steel tubing. It's sturdy when riding over pot holes, curbs, and other road hazards. It also has a 5-layer brushed coating that helps prevent corrosion so it's great for use around salt water. This makes it a great bike to carry on your boat for touring seaside communities.
   
   
7. CLIX DirectConnect Folding System with Quick-Release Latch -
   The large hinge on the frame connects the front and rear parts of the frame. The means the Allston only has 1 point of articulation compared with other folding bikes that also have a second hinge along the top tube. It features a CLIX DirectConnect folding system that automatically clicks into place when the bike is unfolded. The hinge covers a greater surface than the hinges found on most folding bikes which results in greater stability.
   
   
8. Shimano Alfine Rapid Fire Trigger Shifter -
   The Shimano Alfine Rapid Fire trigger shifter is located on the right side of the handlebars next to the hand brake. It has 2 shifting levers. The thumb lever lets you shift down, the index finger lever lets you shift up, and it lets you shift 2 gears at once by pressing the lever further after the first click. You can also shift gears without the bike in motion, which is great for commuting because you can downshift while stopped at a red light. An orange optical indicator lets you easily see what gear you are in.
   
   
9. Handlebar Brake Levers -
   The handlebar brake levers are located in front of each hand grip so you can steer and brake without having to move your hands. The right hand brake lever stops the rear wheel and the left hand brake lever stops the front wheel. The soft, ergonomic hand grips are over-sized and easy to grip so your hands won't slide off them while steering.
   
   
10. Chromoly Fork with Disc Mounts -
    The fork is made of chromoly, which is alloy mixed with chromium and molybdenum. It's not as rigid as pure steel or alloy so it absorbs road vibration better and tends to last longer under similar riding and storage conditions. It's also lighter than steel so you can ride faster and under more control. It has a ramped dropout with a CLIX quick-release latch so you can easily remove the wheel and fold the bike up.
    
    
11. Shimano Deore Hydraulic Disc Brakes-
    The Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes on the front and rear tires let you stop the bike quickly, which is great when you are riding on busy city streets. They have Servo Wave technology that takes the force you put on the brake lever and multiplies it where the pads engage the rotor to give you more stopping power when compared with mechanical disc brakes. Also the oil route throughout the braking system runs one-direction to prevent air bubbles from getting in.
    
    
12. Front and Rear Fenders -
    The Allston is equipped with fenders over the front and rear tires. They help prevent water, mud, and road grime from splashing up and soiling your clothes or splashing onto the clothes of your fellow riders. They also help reduce the amount of grit that can get into your bike's moving components. The front fender is constructed of lightweight yet durable plastic that won't break when hit with rocks or other road debris. The rear fender is integrated into the cargo rack and will be located under the wheel when the rack is rotated for use as a kickstand.
