Demonstrator Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the replacement surge protector kit for the Hughes Autoformers 50 Amp Voltage Booster with Surge Protection. Now this part will replace the surge module on your Hughes Autoformers 50 Amp Voltage Booster with Surge Protection. That voltage booster we do sell separately on our website, it's part number HU57FR. And this kit here will include everything laid out here on the table and includes the surge module, the circuit board, the ribbon connector, three metal screws with the drill bit.
Now I want to pull one of the Hughes Autoformers just to show we're talking about. Now, I happen to pull the 30 amp model. This kit we're mentioning is for the 50 amp model. The only difference between the two, is the 50 amps a little bit larger but it's still has the same type of lid. I'm gonna show you how it gets replaced, but basically, this Hughes Autoformers Surge Protector will absorb any high voltage spikes that might threaten your RV appliances.
With small events, that'll handle a surge and it keeps running, but the life span will decrease until it's used up. Eventually, when all the surge capacity is used up, the green surge capacity light, on the front of this box, will turn red. Basically on the front of the box right down here, there'll be a light that's always green, and then when the surge capacity used up it'll turn to a red. That means you need to replace with this new module. Now this surge protector will protect your RV from power spikes and offers 4,800 joules of surge protection.
And to install it again, I'm going to use the demonstration on this 30 amp model, but this one is for the 50 amp design, but it's the same installation. Basically what you'll do is take the included 1/8 inch drill bit, drill out the rivets on the top lid, there's one in front and one on each side. So once you drill those rivets out then you can remove the top lid, and then you look on the inside, and you can locate your old surge protection module, cut the zip tie that's holding it in, unclip the connectors, remove the surge module with the circuit board and then connect this new unit, and then connect it altogether. Now the connectors are all unique, and it can only be installed one way, so there's really no chance to install it incorrectly. And then once it's all installed, put your lid back on top of the box.
You'll have the three holes here that you drilled out, take your included three metal screws, put them in there, screw it down, and that'll hold the lid in place. You're all ready to go. But that should do it, for the review on this replacement surge protector kit for the Hughes Autoformers 50 Amp Voltage Booster with Surge Protection..
