Video Transcript for Review of Goal Zero Portable Chargers - Boulder 100 Briefcase Portable Solar Panel - 287-32408

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Goal Zero Boulder 100 briefcase solar panel. This is a 100-watt briefcase-style solar panel that's going to convert your sunlight into electricity to power any of the Goal Zero power packs or generators, which are sold separately. Or if you use a solar controller, which is also sold separately, you could charge up a 12-volt battery. So whatever the case is that you're trying to convert that sunlight into electricity for your setup, this is gonna do a great job for you.

This is going to connect to your eight-millimeter solar port connectors with the included cable here. This is capable of 100 watts and open circuit voltage of 18 to 22 volts and up to seven amps. You see we do have these integrated kickstands here that are going to allow us to angle our panel back so that we can get the best angle on the sun to make sure that we're capturing as much sunlight as possible. This is constructed of a tempered glass with an aluminum frame. So it is going to be very durable and waterproof.

It's durable enough that you could use this for a permanent installation if you wanted. Or because it is so lightweight and foldable, you can use it as a transportable option to get set up wherever you're going. It only weighs about 26 pounds, so definitely not too much to carry from wherever you're storing it to get it out in the sun. Obviously, you're not gonna want to take it on the long hike or anything like that. But when we do want to fold it up, very simple to do.

We've got latches on this side here. So we'll just close it up. Get those snapped in place. And we've got this handle here that will allow us to easily transport our panel. They're also going to include this protective carry case.

It's kind of like a canvas feel to it. So it's not padded. It's just gonna help prevent any surface scratches and that sort of thing. So pretty easy to get that slid in place there. So if we're gonna be putting this away to store, transport, we can put that in. We've got zips on either side. We can zip it up, still have access to that handle to carry it. When we're ready to take it out, just undo do those zippers, pull the cover off the corners, and you can lift it back out, like so. Now when we have this folded up like this, we're gonna be looking at a measurement of 21 1/8 of an inch wide. I'm not counting the handle, just counting the panel itself. Our height is 26 3/4 of an inch. And then our thickness is 3 1/4 of an inch. If we open it back up, we're gonna be looking at an overall width of 42 1/14 inch, same height, 26 3/4. And the depth is going to be cut in half obviously, and it's gonna be about 1 5/8 of an inch. So if you are looking to get your solar setup going so that you can charge up your batteries while you're off the grid or make sure that you're getting the most out of your Goal Zero solar generators and power packs, this is gonna be a great option for you. Very easy to get set up to transport and connect to your accessories. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

  • Portable Solar Panel Charger for Charging RV Batteries During Day
That amount of amperage/wattage that the two charger kits you mentioned are capable of really wouldn't be adequate to charge a depleted battery. Especially in a day as they are more designed to keep a battery topped off in storage more than anything. These both can put out up to 7.5 watts. You'd want something with more output than that like the Goal Zero Boulder Briefcase Kit part # 287-32408 which is rated for 100 watts.

  • Is 100W Solar Panel Kit a Good Match for Dry Camping 5-7 Days in the Desert
Location does help so don't discount that entirely, but it has more to do with how much sun you'd be getting than it does with how hot and dry the location is. With that being said, the Goal Zero Boulder 100 Briefcase Solar Panel # 287-32408 produces around 35 amp-hours a day in the best conditions (no clouds or shade gets in the way and the panels are facing direct sunlight) which should be enough if you only plan on using some smaller appliances. To determine if this is enough for you...

  • Recommended Solution for 2017 F-150 Battery Not Charging RV Battery Fully To Run Refrigerator
I'll start by saying, there's going to be a little bit of a power drop off from the alternator back to the 7 way connector on your 2017 F-150; this is perfectly normal-it's not going to be exactly 12v, but it should be close. When it comes to your 7-way's 12v circuit charging the battery, a lot of this depends on the battery bank size, but refrigerators do use up a significant amount of power and running it off a single battery is extremely difficult. For that reason, you may want to...

  • Battery Pack and Solar Panel that Could Run 55 inch Flat Screen Television for 8 Hours
I have a solution for you but the no longer available Goal Zero Yeti 400 Lithium Portable Power Station # 287-38000 is rated for 396 watt per hour so since you'd need 150 watts this would last about 2 hours 15 minutes. If you had access to sunlight the Goal Zero Boulder 100 Briefcase Solar Panel # 287-32408 can connect to this power pack and provide 100 watts per hour which would easily get you the length of time you need. You'd be right at 8 hours with this setup.
