Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Furrion black microwave trim kit. Now this trim kit is going to mount onto your Furrion standard microwave. This will work with the two models that you see on the screen there, both the black standard as well as the mirrored glass standard RV microwave. This is going to be designed specifically for those microwaves so you can trust it is going to fit in place nicely. This is constructed of a hearty plastic, so it is going to hold up well even with the jostling and bumps that you experience while you're traveling in your RV.
And it is going to give your microwave a nice, sleek finished look. This does contain all the hardware and mounting brackets that you're gonna need to get this mounted in place on your RV's microwave. The screws will allow you to mount the brackets on the side of your microwave. So you can see I do have the black microwave here and there are pre-drilled holes in the side of the microwave that these mounting brackets will use to get them mounted in place. And then it is very simple.
Your trim kit has four pieces, they just snap together. So you've got the two side pieces, the top, and the bottom, and they all just snap very snuggly in place. And then you can very simply slide it onto your microwave and get them to snap in. So there are tabs on the back side here that fit into those openings in those brackets, like so, and you can see what it's gonna look like there once we have it installed. So it's not quite a super snug fit.
You can see we do have a little bit of gap around the edges there, so it is designed for this microwave. So that is meant to be there. But I'm gonna give you a few measurements make sure it's gonna work for your kitchen setup. So you can see we're looking at about 23 1/2 inches wide by about 15 inches tall. Our inner opening there is approximately 19 and 3/8 of an inch wide by 10 5/8 of an inch tall.
Kind of hard to see there with being so dark. So just make sure that that's gonna fit inside your RV. They do also include the screws that you'll need to get the mounting plates connected to your cabinets so that you'll have a nice sturdy setup that will go in here. These holes on the front, after you get your microwave put in place, you'll then attach it with those openings so that you have a nice solid connection to your cabinets or wherever it is that you're mounting and before you put your trim in place. So overall, if you're looking for a way to kinda finish off your microwave's look this is gonna be a great addition for you. And that completes our look for today. One year review: This trim kit has held up nicely on our Furrion microwave which replaced the original in our 2008 highwall popup. Looks like it was OEM.
Thank you so much for this product. We tried to use the OEM one with the microwave we replaced but it didn't quite fit. I will etrailer.com has become my go-to for all things RV. The shipping is amazing. Not to mention all of the videos on YouTube. We had a challenge installing this because what was in the tiny pictures of the manual was not working for our RV. We hoped online and sure enough etrailer.com had a video showing the correct way to install it. After we saw that of course it made since but that's what we got for trying to follow the printed instructions. Thank you so much.
We searched high and low for a replacement for a 2004 microwave that got fried in a power surge in our camper. After ordering the wrong unit and then realizing his mistake, my husband called customer service and got help canceling the order and upon advice placed an order for the correct unit and the trim kit needed to make it work in our rv. So glad we found this website and received the help and advice we needed. Thanks!
With so many different RVs, every installation is different. If the space exists, these brackets the job well.The microwave/convection oven we had to replace was larger and had a space built into the cabinetry, so I needed to add wood spacers to accommodate the larger opening and add a cherry wood facade strip to match the cabinets and fill in a gap. I suspect others might have similar issues depending on the design of their RV. So do your homework ahead of time to make sure things can fit and to decide how to deal with other accommodations you might need to make if the trim kit doesn't quite fit to whole space.
Excellent experience - buying from eTrailer. I have e=never had a problem with them. This microwave fit well into the space I had in my 5th wheel. I did have to raise it up a bit so that the trim pieces would mostly cover. I would certainly help if the trim pieces were a bit wider on all sides, just 1/2" more would be great.
Worked out very well overall to replace the original microwave.
The trim piece for my Highpoint microwave broke so I was looking for a replacement. Original part was not available. etrailer’s furrion trim piece is exact outside and inside opening dimensions. However the fit to the Highpoint microwave requires several mods to the plastic trim piece. Although I was able to make it work for me, I really wouldn’t recommend furrion trim kit for use on Highpoint microwave unless there is no other option.
The microwave arrived in a couple of days via UPS with no issues. The oven was an easy install with the trim kit which is all plastic. Metal trim would have got a better rating. Works as advertised.
I was able to use the existing wall cutout. Needed a 1/4” shim board to fill in the space between the existing 1/4”ones which were under the feet of the old unit. The footprint of the new and old microwave was not the same. This was a RV OEM design thing. Trim kit was interesting to install. It won’t work but one way though.
