Optronics ILL06/07 Series Opti Brite LED Mini Dome Light Diagram

Need extra light over your camper kitchen sink for when you do the dishes? Or perhaps you need to upgrade the dim, old lights in your enclosed trailer? This dome light has warm white LEDs that give you brighter light underneath a kitchen cabinet, in a walkway, by a workbench, or inside your enclosed trailer.

Optronics Dome LEDs

LEDs are more energy efficient, last longer, and burn brighter than lights with incandescent bulbs. You won't have to worry about replacing bulbs that have brittle filaments. And because LEDs draw minimal power, the light won't drain your battery, overload your circuits, or produce too much heat.

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens

Lumens are utilized to measure the actual amount of light that you can see and use from a light source. If you need a super bright light for a workspace, you will want to go with a light that has a higher lumen count. If you want a softer glow in an RV living space, you should go with a light that has a lower lumen count.

Light sources typically have 2 different kinds of lumens: raw and effective. Raw lumens represent the natural amount of light that a manufacturer says their light fixtures can produce. Effective lumens, on the other hand, represent the usable brightness of the entire light assembly, including the drive method or any lenses or reflectors.

Recessed, Bolt-On Installation is Easy

Optronics Dome Light Installed

This dome light is incredibly easy to install as an upgrade or direct replacement of your existing light. Because it has a low-profile, recessed design, you will need to cut out a hole if you're not directly replacing a light. Then using hardware (not included), bolt the housing into the ceiling, wall or cabinet. The light wires to a switch inside your RV and hooks up to ground (white wire) and power (black wire).

Video Transcript for Optronics Opti-Brite LED Dome Light Review and Installation ILL06COB

Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install the Optronics Opti-Brite LED Dome Light. This light is going to be available in two different color outputs. Here we have the cool light, which is going to be a real bright light. There's also a neutral light, which is going to be a more warmer light. This is going to be a great replacement for those lights you might have in your camper or in your trailer, so that you don't have the halogen lights anymore and you harness the power of LED lights. These LED lights are going to be brighter, last longer and use less energy than those halogen lights you might have in your camper or trailer already.

A couple of dimensions for you guys so you know what you're getting. It's going to be 11-inches by 4-inches and it's going to come in just under an inch deep. So it's going to be very low profile. So if you put it on your ceiling or on your wall, you're not going to have to worry about it interfering with anything. This light is going to have 16 diodes.

The light is going to have a 354 effective lumen output. The power draw for this light is going to be 0.48 amps. If you want to use a couple of them to light up your trailer, you're going to be able to do that without having to worry about power. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's go ahead and show you how we got it installed. The reason we're installing this light here on the rear is because we have a little bit of dense space back here. We need a little bit more light when we're loading and unloading our vehicles at night.

On the back side of the light, if we take this decorative cover off, you'll see that there are holes available to screw it into whatever frame or ceiling you might be putting this light in. But because we'll be mounting it flush on our roof rail, we're going to use double-sided tape to be able to stick it to it so that our grommet here doesn't offset the light. If you're putting it in a place like we are, you're going to want to measure so that your lights look uniform in your trailer. Go ahead and peel that backing off. Now we've already measured our light. We'll go ahead and hook it around and simply stick it up in place.

For this particular light, your black is going to be your power wire and your white is going to be your ground. So we can go ahead and get our black wire hooked up here using a heat shrink butt connector. We do have these at etrailer; just to ensure a nice watertight seal to resist against any corrosion. Here we're using a heat gun to shrink down our butt connector. You can use a flame-sourced, but you just want to be careful not to burn your wires. Now we'll take a ring terminal, put it on our ground wire, crimp it down. We're going to put ours back behind our light so that we don't see it. We're using a self-tapping screw in order to screw it into our metal frame. We're going to go ahead and tidy it up a little bit, make it look a little cleaner with some wire lube. Now we'll go ahead and flip our light switch on to test out our light. Now that we know that our light's in working condition, that's going to do it for our look and install of the Optronics Opti-Brite LED Dome Light.
