Speaker: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Brophy Tailgate Scissor Step bracket. This bracket is used to mount a set of Scissor stairs to your truck's tailgate. It's going to work with 18 inch and 24 inch Brophy Aluminum Scissor steps. The bracket itself is made from a durable steel construction with a protective finish to keep it safe from rust and corrosion and from the elements. Now when it comes to getting the bracket mounted, it's going to have these L pins back here. You want to measure to distance from the center of one L pin to the center of the other.
This is going to give you the distance between the two holes that need to be drilled in your vehicle's tailgate. Then you would insert the L pins into the holes and rotate the bracket. That's really all there is to it. That's8 going to provide a really great attachment point right here with the hooks for your Brophy Scissor Stairs. For a permanent installation, you can use the pre-drilled or pre-punched holes on each end of the bracket and attaching it to the tailgate with mounting hardware. Mounting hardware is sold separately.
It does come with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the entire process step by step. Few measurements to go over with real quick. We're going to start with the over-all length of the unit. Measuring edge to edge, it's going to give us a measurement of about 18 1/8 of an inch. The distance that we have between our L pins going center on center, that's going to give us a measurement, it looks to be right on 15 inches. The distance between these mount holes, center on center, that's going to give us a measurement of about 16 13/16 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Brophy Tailgate Scissor Step bracket..

etrailer has come through again for me! I needed an additional mounting bracket for my excellent Brophy detachable camper step and Kaylyn got right on it! The Brophy step is really sturdy, stable and very well made. In my case I wanted 2 attachment points on my rear cargo carrier/back deck on our camper and Kaylyn at Etrailer made it happen! I have attached a photo of the carrier with the 2 mounting brackets. (the stairs are not attached because of where it is sitting!). Thanks again to Kaylyn, etrailer, and Brophy! Best regards.

Worked perfect for my application. I did need to modify the bracket slightly (straightened the tailgate hooks on the underside of the bracket) to install on my adjustable camper deck. I wanted the top hanging bracket style so this was the closest I could find. Fit my stairs perfect.

What I like:
1) It's compact for easy storage when not needed.
2) It's well built and firmly attaches to my tailgate.
3) It works great for steps to our truck camping tent, see attached photos.
What I don't like:
1) The 6" gap between the top step and the tailgate. I've filled it in with a block of wood but eventually like to replace that with a bent aluminum plate.

The steps and bracket for our pick-up camper work great. I am only disappointed in the fact that the description for the steps did NOT state that this bracket is necessary to use on a tailgate and i had to order it separate after receiving the steps. i then had to pay expensive overnight shipping rates to get the bracket in time to use on a planned camping weekend. this added a lot of extra expense when i could of ordered it with the steps. you should have a statement in the description of the steps clarifying this.

Don't usually do reviews but was pretty disappointed in the finish of this product. Although it seems well built the silver paint it is coated in was horrible. Fingerprints fused into the finish from handling it wet. Quality control needs to be adjusted.

Its a year old now and still working great. I have had no issues with it and the steps used with the bracket helps for easy entry to the truck camper.
