Heat Strip Install Troubleshooting For Advent Air AC Unit

Question:

Ok I got a advent adv94fr ac unit I purchased a heat strip for it installed the heat strip and plugged it in the control box I then flipped the number 1 dip switch to on factory reset the thermostat and the heat strip doesn’t work what do I need to make this work

*Digital Multimeter with 42" Long Test Leads - LED Display # PT89ZR.

I recommend using a circuit tester like the digital multimeter linked above and testing the pins in the connector on the AC end. Making sure the power wire has power and so on.....

Next plug it in and test the wires making sure that power is making it through the connector to the Heat Strip wires. Then test the wires as they connect to the actual heat strip. If you have power and ground all the way through then it is a faulty unit.

If you find that power isn't making it to the unit you have a short or bad ground somewhere and need to follow the wires until you can find the source of the issue, maybe a pinched or loose connected wire.
