These were a great solution to my issue. My trailers's propane tank, battery box, and winch prevented me from using the mounts that came with my weight distribution hitch. Installation was straightforward and only took about a half an hour. These chain hangers are easy to use too! Very happy eTrailer customer (again!).

These chain hangers are still working out great! No issues at all. I would definitely buy them again.

by:

I couldn't fit my Weight Distribution Hitch on the used trailer I recently purchased because of the nice tool box that was mounted on the V Tongue of the Trailer. With the tool box I couldn't pull over the chain attach brackets. Called E-Trailer and Kathy recommended the Chain Hangers PN: RP58305. They were an easy install and were exactly what I needed. The Service and shipping from E-Trailer was Excellent.

by:

This sway system is the best I have ever used. I pulled a 16ft cargo trailer through the mountains with a Sierra 1500. The rig stayed very stabile and I had zero issue with sway.

by:

This product worked great for me. I had mounted a small generator on the front not making the regular flip chain connectors work. The best way to use this product is with a electric tongue jack. Connect the hitch raise the back of the truck to connect the chains then lower to put the tension on the bars. Easy as pie just make sure if you are buying a jack to get a higher rated one. Highly recommended

Still working like a champ.

The chain hangers for my new trailer appear to be great quality. They solved the problem for connecting the Reese load levelers on a pointed front enclosed trailer, which has a very short tongue.

The Reese chain hangers have worked Great! Makes towing a joy!

by:

This hook operates as expected. No issues installing if what you're installing it to is appropriate. Comes with long and short screws, so it works on hollow beams and C channel frame members at the front of your trailer. Can't comment on the durability of the finish, as I keep installing these on rental campers and never see them again! Well, we all know Reese and the hitch industry overall has significant corrosion issues they just seem to ignore over the decades - their process isn't up to par in my book. That said, the finish seems thick enough and the steel is so thick that rust in this case will be only an optical issue. I like the fact that they are delivered with nylock nuts. I spray the drilled holes (both sides) with aerosol grease before a bolt everything up, to prevent rust on the frame once THAT finish is broken open. Then I hit the fasteners too, to prevent rust. I'm a repeat purchaser, and from experience believe strongly in weight distribution hitches even on small travel trailers, it's just SO much more stable.

by:

Solved my issue with an old Reese hitch and no room for over the top of frame brackets.

by:

The parts I ordered were a great fit for my V nose trailer. After I installed all the pieces I was able to use my load level hitch without having to cut or modify my trailer . The customer service rep. was very helpful in selecting the correct part for my application. Thanks Paul L.

by:

They mount easily and work as intended. With a V-nose trailer there is no way I would have been able to use the WD hitch without bolt on chain hangers. These enabled me to hang the chains further behind the V-nose on the frame. I just wish these had been included in a WD hitch package intended specifically for trailers without sufficient free space over the frame.

by:

The product was well priced and delivery was very fast (3 days)

I was unable to find any other product anywhere that would work for my setup. Every trailer store I contacted had no idea where to direct me as they knew of no product on the market that would work.

I have a V-Cross 32FKDS. Because of the V nose I am unable to use the traditional load level system. the V extends all the way to the trailer jack.

I bought the trailer new and had it delivered to a seasonal lot in 2010 where it has remained. We are looking at moving to a different campground and delivery was $250-$350. For the price this seemed well worth a try.

I am hoping once this product is installed it will keep the trailer and my 3/4 ton level for towing.

by:

This product will not fit up with a Curt Weight DIstribution System with Shank - Trunnion Bar (#c17345).

It's hook will not accept the chain. It is too big.

Fast Shipping, just wrong part suggested by etrailer expert.

by:

seems to be a quick fix for my situation, I ordered weight distribution system but was not aware that my v-nosed trailer would be a issue with brackets that came with kit

by:

Was pleased to find the bolt on hitch brackets at etrailer. Finally a solution to the problem of adapting my equalizer hitch to two different trailers. Install looks to be straightforward.

by:

Very easy hook-up, no problems with unit. Balances trailer weight wonderfully. Smooth, even when turning. Also dampens sway of trailer.

by:

These worked great. I have a rig with a funky battery tray configuration that the spring bar chains kept getting snagged on and snapping the U bolts when using traditional hangers. These solved the problem!

by:

Great service and product.Worked like a charm on our 20' open car trailer with toolbox. Thanks !

by:

Solid build, should be the perfect solution for a WD hitch which the trailer has the body over the beams where the brackets would go

by:

Product was well made and installed in a matter of minutes to allow the use of a weight distrubution hitch on a V nose travel trailer.

by:

Fixed my issue. The hang over type don't work with my tounge jack in the way. Also cross beam is border line in the way. These you can line the chain up perfectly.

by:

These are a must for V nose trailers if your using a weight distribution hitch. Over the tongue saddle types won't fit because of the nose section over hang. Kit comes with everything for mounting and easy to follow instructions.

by:

This is the only choice for a V-nose trailer. I must say more importantly than the product because it is Reese so it is good but etrailer is a great and easy place to do business with and I am in a crunch and need to get this on the road they get your product to you super fast. Excellent Service Thank you etrailer!

by:

It was shipped in a timely manor. The product seems to be built well and should last a very long time. The instructions where clear once you studied the pieces and gained a understanding of how the product works.I will be using it to cross the country from Washington to Pennsylvania. I hope it works as advertised

by:

This is the first time I have ordered through etrailer.com and it will not be the last. My order came quicker then I thought and in excellent condition. The quality looks very good also. GeorgeJ@etrailer was very helpful and professional. I highly recommend etrailer.com.

by:

  • Weight Distribution and Sway Control Recommendation for Somerset E3 Trailer
Based on your trailer's set up you will need to go with bolt-on chain hangers for Weight Distribution Systems, part # RP58305. These will bolt onto the side of the trailer frame. Attaching chains to the bolt on hangers is accomplished by hooking the trailer to the vehicle and using the trailer jack to lift the trailer and vehicle until the proper link in the spring bar chains can be placed on the hanger. Once the chain is attached, the weight is then lowered and the spring bars will distribute...

  • Weight Distribution System Recommendation for V-Nose Trailer with 1,500 lbs Tongue Weight
Since you have a V-nose trailer you will need to go with bolt-on style frame brackets that will allow you to attach to the trailer frame without needing clearance above the frame channel. Since your tongue weight is up to 1,500 lbs when loaded you will need to go with a higher rated system. The Strait-Line # RP66075 has a sway control unit that works to fight sway before it starts and has a tongue weight range of 1,000 lbs - 1,700 lbs. For bolt on brackets for your trailer you would need...

  • How Can DeeZee Specialty Series Trailer Tongue Toolbox # DZ91717P be Used with Weight Distribution
The DeeZee Specialty Series Trailer Tongue Toolbox # DZ91717P can fit on the tongue of a trailer with weight distribution chain hangers, but most likely bolt on hangers will need to be used for the WD system as the box will sit on the top of the frame. If you have a Reese, Pro Series, or Draw Tite WD system you could use the part # RP58305. These will bolt to the sides of your trailer frame and would leave the top of your trailer free for the # DZ91717P. If you have a Curt WD system you...

  • Casita Camper Weight Distribution System Recommendation
Since you have a clearance issue above the frame of your trailer what you need is a set of bolt-on style of frame bracket for the side of your trailer frame like the part # RP58305. From previous customers with a 17 foot Casita camper we know the tongue weight is typically around 400 lbs so what you'd then want is the # RP66086 which has a tongue weight range of 200 to 600 lbs. This also features the only sway control on the market that fights sway before it starts. For a 2 inch ball...

I did some research on the Coleman Evolution, and it appears that a typical weight distribution system would work just fine with the layout of the tongue. If you have propane bottles on your pop-up, they might interfere with the chain hangers that fit around the top of the trailer frame. You could use a bolt-on hanger, part # RP58305 if this is the case.
