Fit perfectly, no mods required, very easy install! Would be great if they included 5” long bolts as well to fit narrower trailer tongues.

by:

So far the product has worked well based on the trailer I’m using it on which is an aluminum trailer with single pole tongue

by:

I had previously purchased a different pole tongue adapter that did not work. This one has worked perfectly with my weight distribution hitch. It is well built and heavy and my boat tows better than ever. I could not be happier.

After a year of use there have been no issues, it still works great.

@Leslie We're happy to hear that!

So far so good. Had a shop install this add-on bracket for my boat trailer and it allowed me to install the appropriate wd hitch for my surge brake setup and pole tongue.

Worked W.

I really appreciate the follow up. The hitch setup has been working out really well. I am glad I went with the product and your company. Would not hesitate to do it again.

by:

Became an excellent solution for two trailers that I had that were configured with a pole tongue style frame. Pleased with how this system has worked with my trailers and weight distribution hitch thus far. Only thing I noticed was the spacing of the holes where the bracket clamps to the tongue. My tongue dimensions did not give me a tight fit using the pre drilled holes in the brackets but a rather sizable gap between the bolts and the tongue. This was easily remedied by adding a spacer to make up the difference.

Stacey was very helpful in assisting me with piecing together weight distribution system. The pole tongue adapter by Reese is well built and will certainly provide the requirement needed to distribute weight. Buy with confidence!

by:

Works like a charm. I have a heavy boat / trailer with a straight (not a “v”) tongue and needed a way to hook up a distor hitch. This

by:

This pole tongue adapter arrived with two 6-inch connecting bolts that secure the four mounts under the trailer tongue. Sadly, only the outside 1.5 inches of the hex bolts were threaded, which would be great if my trailer tongue was 4 inches wide. Mine is 3 inches wide (a standard width for heavy boat trailers), so I ran out of thread before the part was secured. So I could either get a whole bunch of flat washers (Grade 5), or try to get 5 inch hex bolts. I called Reese, they are shipping me 6-inch fully threaded bolts. Not sure if that is the strongest set-up; I ended up ordering 5 inch partially threaded bolts from Grainger. Grade 5 hex bolts are NOT at [average retail stores]. So a PIT[Y] but not a deal killer.

by:

works awesome, use it for my 35 foot boat trailer. pulled it on a 1200 mile trip the first use and it was a world of difference when i hooked it up! Thanks!

Product took 3 days to arrive-nice! Fit and finish is fantastic. I would install it now, however it is -3 out and -20 with the wind chill. Nice work etrailer! This is my second order with you and I will be back

by:

if you have a heavy pole-tongue trailer, this adapter helps with safety
by letting you use a weight distribution system.

by:

This is extremely well built and the installation instructions were excellent. Thanks.

  • Hitch, Weight Distribution And Towing Accessories to Tow 12,000 lb Boat with 2000 Ford F350
Unless you're planning on carrying a truck bed camper again, the Torklift # TLF1002-30 Hitch you referenced would be overkill for you. A Class V hitch like the Curt # C15410 would be a less expensive option. For a ball mount, use the Draw-Tite # 40331 with the # 19286 2-5/16 inch trailer ball. Anytime the weight of what you're towing exceeds half the weight of the tow vehicle, weight distribution is recommended. To choose a weight distribution system, you'll need to first determine the...

I went out into our warehouse and measured the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter part # RP58393 and found that it would add 3-1/4 inches to the top of the trailer frame it was installed on in the front and 3-1/2 inches in back.

  • Recommended Pole Tongue Adapter for Chain Hanger Weight Distribution System
For use with your chain-hanger style weight distribution system I recommend the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter # RP58393. This will mount to the pole tongue on your boat trailer to provide proper mounting space for the system's chain brackets. The Equal-i-zer Adapter # EQ95-01-5950 that you referenced is geared more towards Equal-i-zer and Fastway Weight Distribution Systems that use sway control L-brackets and wouldn't work well with the type of system you have.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System For 2017 Dodge Durango Towing a 22.8 Foot Cobalt 226
For your Cobalt boat and trailer, I recommend you go with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion # FA92-00-0800. This system will give you a stronger system that will also allow you greater ground clearance. This system will handle much better for you as you travel down the road as well as when you are loading and unloading. The sharp angles won't be a problem with this system. This system is easy to engage and disengage as needed, so you will have options....

If you didn't want to go with an Equal-i-zer weight distribution system you wouldn't want to use their pole tongue adapter but we do have the Reese option part # RP58393 which allows you to use a Reese system and we also have a Blue Ox adapter part # BXW4023 as well. Basically you need to match the brand of pole tongue adapter to the brand of the weight distribution you go with. • Using Weight distribution for Boat Trailer Towed by Chevy Suburban
You will want to check the towing capacity for your specific model year and version of 1/2-ton Suburban since capacities vary. The 2WD Suburban tops out at 8300-lbs towing capacity IF it has the V8 and the Max Trailering Package. Other versions are rated for as low as 6000-lbs maximum towing weight. Your owner's manual is the best place to confirm your capacity, but you can also contact a local dealership with the Suburban's VIN to let them look up the complement of factory equipment installed...

  • Can Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter be Used on an Aluminum Trailer
The only restriction that the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter # RP58393 has is that it can't be used with swing-away couplers. Since your trailer has an aluminum frame you're going to want to reach out to your trailer manufacturer to make sure they approve this kind of an adapter and a weight distribution system being used on that trailer frame.

  • Weight Distribution System for 8500 lb Boat Trailer with Surge Coupler
There are indeed weight distribution systems that are compatible with surge couplers. For a boat and trailer with a 700 lb tongue weight, the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System part # RP66559, which is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 500-1000 lbs would be ideal. • Weight Distribution and Sway Control Recommendation for a 9,990 Pound Trailer and 2001 GMC Sierra
The 1,000 pound Fastway system has a tongue weight capacity of 1,000 pounds which would be too heavy for the 640 pounds of your trailer, but at the same time, the 10,000 pound capacity of the system would be too low since the gross trailer weight is a mere 10 pounds from the maximum of the system.
