Product received on time. About 5 days since I live in NW. Electric brake installation went very good after watching install video. My trailer had a four way flat cable. I converted it to 6 way because my 2007 Winnebago View on 2006 Dodge Sprinter had the 6 pin. After hooking everything up my brake lights didn't work. The running and blinkers did work. I did a bit of research online. My View has a 3 filament rear light system meaning the brake and blinker have their own circuit. My trailer and most out there combine the brake and blinker onto one circuit. So basically it's a 2 filament system. Bottom line: going from a 3 to 2 filament system you need a "tail light converter". I added the converter into my RV at the hitch 6pin round connector. It was wired the standard way as 6 pin go. The brake output wire labeled X or S on connector was removed and added to brake output line of converter. My converter had 5 pins on input and four on the output. White being ground on both side, brown is running lights, yellow as left turn and green as right turn. The converter basically combines the brake light and blinker functions onto one line.
Once I installed the brake controller this wire run from controller to hitch. I connected this side to S or X where I removed the brake light wire earlier. So now my electric brakes work on my trailer as do the brake lights.

I received the Pollak Circuit Breaker in good timing. The mounting bracket was mounted at a 90 degree angle from how it was advertised, but there was still plenty of room on my camper trailer frame to mount it. It works great! Fixed my converter for $10. including shipping.

I INSTALLED THIS IN PLACE OF ORIGINAL CIRCUIT BREAKER, ON OUR 2015 NASH 24H TRAVEL TRAILER. THE ORIGINAL TOOK IN WATER AND FAILED. I MOUNTED THIS POLLAK CIRCUIT BREAKER INSIDE A 6" LONG PIECE OF 1 1/2" ANGLE, AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY FOR THE SITUATION. THANKS VERY MUCH

Use this every time i install a brake controller It works great

I need a resetting thermal fuse for a child's electric powered fire truck that I was refurbishing for a friend. Etrailer had the item for a great price , it arrived 2 days later as promised, making twin 5 year olds plus one 58 year old kid very happy.

by:

No problems in 1 year, and the circuit breaker hasn't tripped, so I guess it is fine. Sort of hard to tell with a circuit breaker. :-)

Exactly what I needed. Etrailer website very informative. Always find what you need there.

  • Installation of a Pinnacle Draw Tite Brake Controller On a Land Rover Defender
The blue wire is the trailer brake feed that is wired to the trailer connector at the back of the vehicle. A 10 gauge wire, item # 10-1-1, is used for this connection. The red wire is connected to the cold side of the brake pedal switch. Use a circuit tester, item # 3808, to find the circuit that is hot only when the brake pedal is pressed. The white wire goes to a secure vehicle ground or the negative battery post. Finally the black wire goes to the positive vehicle battery post through...

You can install your Prodigy P2 trailer brake controller # 90885 in your 2018 Ford F-150 using wiring adapter part # 3034-P. BUT.....yes, I have to give you one of those...on some of the early production 2018 F-150s Ford omitted the fuse and fuse holder from the power distribution box if the truck does not have the factory integrated brake controller. On such a truck the wiring adapter will still plug in to the under-dash port but the black wire that is there to supply +12V operating...

  • Troubleshooting No Power for Trailer Lights at 7-Way on 2017 Ram 1500
A bad ground could be a possibility with any issue, and I would always recommend checking it. It sounds like you're saying the only thing that works on your 7-way is the battery hot lead. Since all of your fuses are good, outside of checking the ground I would say it could only be the connector or a short in the wiring. Go ahead and take your circuit tester like the # PTW2993 and check the wires right before the connector. If you have power here then the connector is the issue and you...

  • Adding a Brake Controller to a 2017 Ford Explorer XLT with Factory Tow Package
If your trailer has electric brakes then I highly recommend using a brake controller to decrease stopping distances when towing and to reduce wear and tear on the 2017 Ford Explorer's brakes. Your Explorer with tow package should include a 7-Way trailer connector which is needed for electric brakes. But also check the glove box for a Ford brake controller harness which they may or may not have included. If you do have the factory brake controller harness then the amount of installation...

  • Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller Blows Power Wire Fuse when Brake Pedal is Used
It sounds like there is a short that is overdrawing power and blowing the fuse or the draw of the trailer brake magnets is greater than the fuse capacity. The Primus brake controller # TK90160 can work with up to 6 brake assemblies but any more than 2 assemblies I recommend a 30 amp fuse or, better yet, a circuit breaker, # PK54530. Also make sure that the brake controller white ground wire is attached to the negative battery terminal. No other ground location is sufficient. If you routed...

  • Towing a Trailer with Electric Brakes with a Semi Tractor with Air Brakes
To tow your trailer that uses an RV style 7-way blade style connector with your semi that has a 7-pin connector, you need to construct an adapter that will also combine the brake signal into the right and left directional signal pins. This can be done by using a female 7-pin socket # PK11720 to accept the plug from the semi, a tail light converter # 119178 and a female 7-way RV blade-style socket # PK12-707E. The converter would be wired in between both sockets to combine the brake light...

The connection you will need to use is most likely the chassis connection in the case of the brake controller. You will want the connection that is hot at all times ran to the brake controller so that the trailer brakes can be operated at any time whether the ignition is on or not. The brake controller should be wired through at least a 20 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54520, and a 30 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54530, if the trailer has more than 4 brakes or the brake controller calls...

The Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # TK90160 should have power triggered when there is a draw on the 5 o'clock pin of the 7-way trailer connector showing there is a trailer connected. It should be in a "sleep" mode until there is a draw on that output wire. • Brake Controller Wiring Functions and Where They Need to Install
The generic wiring guide in question just tells you the functions of the wires: white is ground, black is 12-volt power in (this is the wire that gets the circuit breaker), red is input from the brake switch, and blue is output to the trailer brakes. The white ground wire needs to be attached to the negative battery terminal. No other location is sufficient enough. The black wire attaches to the positive battery terminal via the circuit breaker although I recommend a 30-amp breaker, #...

  • Can a Brake Controller Be Installed in a 2007 International 4200
A brake controller does not have to be tied into the computer on your 2007 International 4200. A brake controller such as # 90885 requires 12 volt power in to power the controller, a ground which is usually attached to the negative battery terminal, an output wire (blue) goes to the trailer connector, and a connection to the cold side of the brake switch to tell the controller when you are stepping on the brake pedal. If your truck has air brakes then it is possible that there isn't a...

  • Do 7-Way Trailer Connectors have Amp Ratings for Pins or the Whole Socket
Most if not all trailer wiring harnesses/connectors use larger wires for the 12 volt and ground circuits compared to the other circuits (lights). The sockets themselves don't have an amperage rating so you will go by the draw of the things drawing power. In order to figure out what the lights are drawing you could connect the trailer to the tow vehicle and turn on a function while testing the trailer side wiring behind the connector with a meter to see what sort of reading you get. • Does a 30 Amp Auto-Reset Breaker Have to be Mounted or Can it be Loose
You don't have to mount the circuit breaker such as # PK54530 if you don't want to. It would prevent it from moving around if it were mounted but won't affect how it works. So your plan of leaving it "loose" and wrapping it up in electrical tape will be fine.

You will not need the Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter 1999-02 Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, item # 3025-S, on the 1995 model because there is no factory port under the dash to plug the adapter in to. To do this you will simply need to run a length of 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) from this pin at the 7-Way to your vehicle's battery via a 30 amp circuit breaker like # PK54530. This will give you power at the 12V pin of your trailer connector at all times.
