You are correct. The wires for the light functions in Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit #RM-146-7 are 16 gauge and the 12 volt power and ground wires are the larger 14 gauge. I have linked a video review of this product for you.

The Roadmaster part #RM-146-7 would be longer than the Demco part #DM9523054 that you referenced. The Roadmaster is listed as having an extended length of up to 8 feet whereas the Demco is 7 feet so at 7 feet the Roadmaster would have less tension.

I spoke to my contact at Roadmaster and he informed me that the gauge wires that are in the RoadMaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit #RM-146-7 are 14 gauge and 16 gauge.
