We can definitely get your 2023 Chevy Equinox set up to be flat towed, and there are a number of parts you will need, so I'll go ahead and list them out for you like you wanted to make it easy to order:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676
- Wiring Kit - LED Tail Lights: Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes # RO44FR
OR
- Wiring Kit - Incandescent Tail Lights: Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes # RO94FR
- Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751489
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR
- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25
The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are really nice with their removable tabs, so your Equinox is going to maintain its clean aesthetic when you aren't flat towing it. The Nighthawk is easily the best tow bar you can get because of its aluminum body which makes it lighter and easier to handle than other tow bars, and long 52" reach which allows your Equinox to track behind your motorhome much better than bars with shorter arms.
The Nighthawk even includes both safety cables and an electrical cord so you don't have to buy those separately. The diode wiring kit will prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Chevy's electrical system safe, and you'll connect it to the cord that comes with the Nighthawk. Just make sure you get the right kit, depending on if you have LED or incandescent tail lights.
As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is easily the best because it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Equinox is going to get the same amount of braking power, resulting in much smoother braking than other systems. The stoplight switch will ensure the monitoring system is always active, and the battery charge line will keep your Equinox's battery charged at all times, even on long journeys.
Finally, to protect your Equinox from rocks and other debris hitting it while you are flat towing, I highly recommend a rock guard, the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750.
