Dual Hitch Adapter Recommendation for a Motorhome Flat Towing a Jeep Liberty and Carry Bike Rack

Question:

I have bought several type bike racks behind tow vehicle, RV ladder mount, etc. and nothing to date works well for my needs. I have a 2007 Holiday Rambler 37foot diesel pusher motorhome. I tow a 2006 Jeep Liberty using a Roadmaster Sterling tow bar. I want to be able to tow the vehicle and add a bike rack between the HR and the Jeep. Will this particular hitch adapter be suitable, strong enough, and safe for my application? I am a previous e-trailer customer.

The Malone Dual Hitch Extender # MPG544 was designed to do exactly what you are trying to do; flat tow a vehicle and carry an accessory like a bike rack. This rack has a capacity of 400 lbs tongue weight and 4,000 lbs total weight. It does cut your hitch's capacity in half, so take the lesser number (400 or 50% of your hitch's capacity) and use that as your new capacity if you use this.

If you need something with more capacity the # RM-077-2 would be a better choice as it can tow a vehicle up to 10,000 lbs.

For a bike rack you will need one rated for use behind an RV or motorhome. To see all of the bike racks we carry that are confirmed to fit a hitch at the back of an RV check out the link I attached to the right.
