Should Load Resistors Prevent Hyperflashing

Question:

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra and I replaced my rear tail lights with an led set...since then, I have hyper blinking. Will the # DI34ZR LED Light Bulb Load Resistor Kit correct this? I have been getting mixed answers on this. I have purchased two resistors at a local truck shop, not yours, another type and they are not correcting the situation. Thanks for your help with this

Expert Reply:

LED lamps draw only a fraction of the power that an incandescent lamp would. If the vehicle has a bulb-out sensor, the turn signals will blink rapidly, or hyperflash because the vehicle thinks you have a burned out bulb. Using a properly installed load resistor will eliminate this problem. If the resistor is incorrectly installed, the lamp will still hyperflash.

I've provided you an install diagram showing the proper installation of the load resistor. Review your installation to make sure the load resistors are installed as shown in the diagram. For the best installation, the load resistors should be soldered in place and heat shrink tubing should be used to protect the connections.
