Recommendation for Stability While Pulling Flagstaff Travel Trailer with 2010 Dodge Ram

Question:

Currently pulling a 29 RLSS Flagstaff trailer about 7,000lbs have a weight distribution hitch with a sway bar with a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 5.7L - truck is level, but Im wanting more stability on the highway. Im considering one or two options, but am open to your suggestions! 1 Air Lift Suspension AL 60818....seems to offer flexibility not sure how much improved handling Ill get less sway, etc or 2Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System looks very promising but this is not a 5th wheel. Any thoughts on whether either of these will just give a more stable ride, pulling trailer??? Thanks for any help!

Using a weight distribution system and suspension enhancement together can cause the two systems to work against each other, so you won't get the full benefits of either system.

Your first line of defense against trailer sway is proper loading of the trailer. The tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. Heavier items on the bottom and the weight evenly distributed. This is a little harder to do on a travel trailer as opposed to a cargo or flat trailer.

Also you will want to make sure your weight distribution system is rated properly for the trailer. You said you are using a sway bar. Given that the trailer is 7,000 pounds, he will need 2 sway bars because one will not be sufficient. If you let me know which weight distribution system you are currently using I can help you choose the correct sway bar.

I have attached an FAQ article on weight distribution systems for you to check out also.
