Hollywood Racks Traveler Bike Rack for 1-1/4 Hitches Does Not have Hole to Install 2 Inch Adapter

Question:

There is a screw that came with this and two small holes on the sleeve that it fits into but not so you can screw it in. What is this for? There are no small holes in my Hollywood 3 bike 1.25inch traveller bike hitch. Do I need to drill into the rack arm to use this screw to attach the sleeve to the rack arm? Thank you

There should be a hole specifically for the screw on the shank of your Hollywood Racks Traveler bike rack. I went out to our demo area and checked the Hollywood Racks that use that adapter and they all have a hole. Some had the adapter on the left and others on the right but they all had it.

But if you have an early version of the Traveler made in the early 2000s then it would not have the hole. The newer ones do.

I spoke with Hollywood Racks and they said that you can drill a 5/16 inch hole and tap it to 5/16-18 threads. You would have to have a tap kit or borrow one from a local auto parts store.

The other option is to use an adapter such as # HT02. This will allow you to use the 1-1/4 inch bike rack shank in a 2 inch receiver.
