Curt trailer hitch # C11364 was specifically designed to fit the 2014 Fiat 500L. The review suggests that there is no fishwire included. One of our other experts checked this and found no fishwire was included so # 80101-1 would be needed as well.
The ease of installation is relative to the vehicle the hitch is being installed on and not the hitch so much. Installation of a hitch on this vehicle is not difficult, just time consuming.
Regarding a lack of holes in the bumper the reviewer mentioned he may not have been looking in the right place or did not have the fascia all the way removed. The bumper beam should be open on the ends. It is also possible that access holes are placed elsewhere in the bumper beam, just not in plain site.
All signs point to the hitch fitting just fine. I have linked the instructions for you that shows step by step with pictures the hitch being installed on a 500L so we know it fits. Or at least it fit that particular 500L. Please note that this is a Class I trailer hitch and is limited to 2 bike maximum. Also with the Curt hitch you will need to use a stabilization strap # 18050 for Curt's warranty requirements.
The other option to carry bikes on the 500L that I recommend is a trunk mount rack. I have linked the trunk mount racks that will fit.
