Solution for Passing Hazard Light Trailer Inspection with Separate Wired Trailer Taillights

Question:

We installed a Curt 56196 converter to change the two-way lighting on our 2005 Honda Odyssey to three-way lighting on our Hobby caravan camping trailer. The brakes and turn signals work perfectly, but when the hazards are turned on the brakes red flash and not the turn signals amber, so the vehicle does not pass inspection. How can we remedy this? Thanks in advance!

Due to the nature of signal converters there really isn't a way to make the signals work so that when your flashers are on the amber lights blink. The problem is that the converter can't tell the difference between the flashers and the brake lights so it sends the circuit on the brake lights since they are flashing at the same time.

What about if your trailer had combined taillights like most do? The only solution I could provide for you that could possibly work for you would be to convert your trailer to combined taillights and then go back to combined trailer light circuits on your 2005 Honda Odyssey.

I attached a link to a page that has all of our trailer lights.
