How to Separate Out Brake and Turn Signals for LED Lighting Underneath Trailer

Question:

My trucks turn signal and brake lights are on same signal my trailer is the same and on a 7 way plug. All the lights work just fine on the truck and trailer now but I bought some rgb rock lights that go under the trailer Led and they have turn signal and it goes sequentially front of trailer to back and brake lights. so hit the brakes it turns red under the trailer, turn left the right side stays red under trailer and left side flash sequential in yellow under trailer. Right now I got them working but when I hit the brakes it turns yellow instead under the trailer instead of red because I don’t have just a brake signal I want the brake lights on the back of my trailer to work as they do already my question is can I wire the four way converter to the trailer side and then run the turn signal wire from the turn signal taillight converter back to the trailer harness and will my brake lights and turn signals still work on back of trailer properly as they do now or will they only get a turn signal and no brake light being it’s hooked to converter that separates turn and brake light ? If I need to send pics I can tomorrow

What I recommend doing is installing a junction box like part # 38656 on your trailer 7-Way and then finding a converter like the Curt # C56196 to then connect to the wiring in the converter box and separate out the brake and turn signals for your LED lighting.

You'll have to find a different converter that's compatible with LED lights or use a voltage regulator in addition to the Curt converter as the converters we carry won't work with LED lights.
