Separating Out a Combined Brake Light and Turn Signal to Have Separate Turn Signals and Brake Lights
Question:
Hi, does this part number and/or others you have also separate the combined brake-turn indicator wire left and right side of a vehicle to separate brake and indicator wiring and retain the fast flashfoot feature of the oem vehicle when the turn indicator goes out past the box you use? We want to use it not for a trailer but for separating the oem rear lights from a combined brake/indicator set-up to a separate brake and amber turn light set up on the vehicle for a country that does not allow rear red brake/turn combined. We could just wire the new separate amber left and right turn lights to the front indicators but that will not give us a fast flashfoot feature that we need. thanks. If it works will will need many as we do many of these now with an expensive ecu custom made.

We do have converters that do separate out the combined brake light and turn signal but # TR118821 is not one of them. What you can use instead is tail light converter # 118158 or # C56196. They both do the same thing.
The white input wire is ground (earth), yellow is combined left turn signal and brake light, and green is combined right turn and brake light. On the output side you will have the yellow wire for left turn signal only, green for right turn signal only, and red for brake lights only.
I cannot say for sure how this would affect the flashers but either the brake lights would flash by themselves, turn signals by themselves, or both. Something is going to be flashing though.
