Availability of Vertical Class I Hitch for 2002 Honda Accord Sedan
Question:
I have an 02 Honda Accord Sedan. Is there any possibility of a vertical hitch, like that shown for the Scion xB? If not, can I mount the hidden hitch so I can attach/remove it quickly from the outside? Do I have to drill holes in the floor pan? I would like to tow a bike rack, or possibly a 200 lb boat. Thanks.

For your 2002 Honda Accord Sedan there is no vertical hitch offered. The unit you referenced, model 28501 for the Scion xB, is not adaptable to your Accord.
We offer only one hitch for your Accord. It is the curt # C11290 and is a light-duty Class I hitch. The is a cost-effective option for you. This hitch installs without drilling and the installation instructions are linked for your reference. The required mounting hardware is included.
Installation of any hitch must be done exactly as per the manufacturer instructions. A hitch's rated capacity is based on the specific installation process as tested by the hitch manufacturer. Hitches are not designed for routine removal; each time a hitch is installed (or re-installed) new hardware must be used to ensure safe operation.
I was not able to verify a rated towing capacity for your 2002 Accord Sedan; your owner's manual or local dealership should be able verify if the car is rated by Honda for towing.
Please note that a Class I hitch can handle the weight of up to 2 bikes, but not more than two. The linked article will explain hitch classes in further detail. A second article will help you select a compatible 2-bike Class I bike rack that will fit the rear of your Accord. A link will take you to our main page for 2-bike Class I racks.
