Will The Curt Class III Receiver Allow For 60LB Bike With Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack 2020 Tesla Model 3?

Question:

I have a 2020 Tesla M3 with a Curt Class I hitch from you guys! on it. I recently acquired an electric bike which is considerably heavier. Ive been reading warnings that the heavier bike plus the rack acting as a lever is _effectively_ much more than a tongue weight of 300lbs. Adding to my confusion, I dont see much difference between the Curt Class I and the Curt Class III other than the 1.25inch vs. 2inch receiver. I would have expected the Class III to also fasten to the cars frame/body or at least more than just bolt on to the bumper. So... Is the Curt Class III up to the job of hauling a 60lb e-bike plus a 20ish lb regular bike? Id likely be using a Küat NV2.0 rack.

Yes, the Curt Class III Receiver # C45FR is going to be up to the job of carrying your 60lb and 20lb bike with the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack # NV22G behind your 2020 Tesla Model 3. I definitely understand your concern over the mounting Byron but you must understand most cars use a unibody frame so the bumper mounting position this receiver uses is actually stronger.

As far as the construction it does appear the only difference of the construction is the 1-1/4" versus the 2" receiver openings. Do understand we do not have all the specification details from Curt to understand if they oversize the material needed for the 1-1/4" or if they use thicker steel on the 2" version. We do know for the receiver portion itself the 2" receiver is stronger than the class I.
