Increasing Tire Size On A Jayco Eagle Pop-Up Camper  

Question:

Adding 3.5 space lift to Eagle popup ... currently has 205/70/14 tires. What size tire should I use to upgrade to larger size. Thank you for your time.

Hi Libby,

Before increasing your tire size you'll need to check your clearance from the tire up to the fender and horizontally from the tire to body/frame. You'll need at least an inch horizontally and 3" vertically to allow for suspension travel. Increasing tire size will also place more wear and tear on the bearings so you'll need to repack them more often to prevent overheating/damage to the spindle.

205/70R14 tires have an overall diameter of 25.85" so we can look at the diameter of some bigger options that will still have the same bolt pattern as your current hubs. What is your current bolt pattern?
