Will a 175/80-13 Trailer Tire and Wheel Fit in Place of a 5.30-12 Trailer Tire and Wheel
Question:
I have a trailer with a 5-bolt rims and 5.30 - 12 tires. I have been told that radius tires would be a better choice? I also have a rim with a dent in it. So I like to go the the next size up for rims as well as tires. What is that size?

If you want to go to the next size up from a 5.30-12 tire you will need to look at 13 inch wheels and tires ST175/80-13. For a wheel and tire combo with 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and radial tire use # AM31985. This tire will be 7 inches wide and 24.1 inches tall and is rated for 1,610 pounds at 65 psi.
The height and width of the new tire is important because you need to have the space all around the existing tires to go to a larger size. A 5.30-12 tire is 5.6 inches wide and 21.9 inches tall so it is 1.4 inches narrower and 2.2 inches shorter than a 175/80-13.
Basically you will need more than 1.1 inches above the existing tires and 0.7 inches between the existing tire and the trailer frame to go to the larger size.

I have a custom kayak trailer with 4 hole axle hubs. It is 13 inches from center hub to fender well. What is the max tire I can run, thanks?
