Are There Pre-Greased Versions Of The Dexter 008-435-05 Hub/Rotor

Question:

Going on a long trip with boat and trailer and want to be prepared for a hub issue. Currently have the Dexter hub rotor part number 008-435-05 with Vault system, they look good but almost 10 years old. Is there a pre greased hub that could be used for emergency repair on side of road, instead of re packing the Dexter system?

Hi Wendell,

We do offer compatible replacement hub/rotors for your Dexter 008-435-05 but they unfortunately do not come pre-greased. I recommend picking up the # K08-435-05 as well as bearings # L68149 and # L44649, and grease seal # RG06-050 to pre-pack the hub yourself with some lube # L11380 before the trip. To prevent the bearings from falling out or any dirt/debris from getting inside the hub you can put two layers of plastic wrap over the holes and rubber band them down.

I have purchased your recommendations and have two follow up questions. Do you have a recommendation for a cap for the hub - like a bearing buddy? Also, is there any concern with mixing the recommended grease with another grease I have in my grease gun - Lucus marine grease?

@Wendell For the dust cap you can use a standard dust cap # F001518, easy lube dust cap # DC200L-DCRP, or Bearing Buddy # BB84SR. Marine grease is better for repelling water, and is what I should have recommended since you have a boat trailer and will be back into the water, so yes your Lucas marine grease would definitely be the better option over hi-temp grease. If you want a tub of grease to repack your bearings instead of a gun/tube you can pick up # L74FR.
