Ball Mount and 1-7/8 Inch Ball for Factory 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch on a 2014 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I have the 1.25inch receiver on the factory hitch that came with the vehicle. What is the correct ball mount and 1 7/8inch ball?

Helpful Expert Reply:
For any given Class I or II trailer hitch you are supposed to use the ball mount recommended by the hitch manufacturer because that is what the hitch and vehicle were tested with and given their rating based upon (including other factors).
If the ball mount is not specified in the owners manual for your 2014 Chevy Equinox then I recommend ball mount # 36051 since it is the correct ball mount for an aftermarket Draw-Tite hitch (# 36408). For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256. You will be limited to the capacities of the hitch or vehicle, whichever is lower.
