Is there a 3rd Gen Reese GooseBox w/ a 16K Capacity?

Question:

Do you know when the 3rd Gen Reese Goosebox 16k might be available? I have a 10,500 GVW trailer and the 20k seems like an overkill. Are the any disadvantages to using the 20k on a light trailer? Would the shock dampers and bags be too stiff for a light weight trailer?

We had the Reese rep in not long ago and the 16k capacity 3rd Generation Goosebox doesn't have a release date and is not expected in the near future(10/15/23). Reese's parent company Horizon Global is currently going through a buy out which has created a logistical nightmare so new parts aren't coming out.

The only 3rd Gen available is the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter item # RP85FR. The pressure in the air bags is adjustable and you won't have any problems with the shocks being too stiff. We've had customers upgrading to this pin box all year with various weights for their 5th wheels and haven't heard of any issues.

The 3rd generation Reese Goosebox item # RP85FR is designed to replace the Lippert 1621, 1621HD, 1716, 0719, Rhino, and Fabex PB 600 series pin boxes. If you are replacing a Lippert 1716 pin box, you will need to purchase the Reese spacer kit item # RP97FR.

If you would like to email me a picture of the sticker on your pin box I would be more then happy to contact Lippert tomorrow to verify what pin box you currently have to ensure you're getting the correct goosebox.

You will also need safety chains as they are not included and required by law. I recommend the Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks item # 49150.
