I'm always very impressed with etrailers customer service. Every time I order a product, if it's not immediately available or there's a better option, one of the representatives personally emails me with options. Fantastic customer service!

My only suggestion on this product, or any safety chain, is make the connecting link that connects to the trailer bigger in circumference so the connection bolts will pass through. Had to go to a local hardware store to Jerry fit something that would work and accomodations the stock bolts.

@CarlR That's a great suggestion Carl. I will pass it on.

Good as new, one year later. No Rust or corrosion, High Quality Safety chains. Good purchase

by:

its a gamechanger to have this installed on my boat trailer. no longer need to step over trailer tougue in garage.

by:

I ordered these safety chains to go with the 16k Goosebox. They fit perfect, length is good. I did modify the chains with hooks on both ends. This saves from being in the bed of my pickup during coupling or un-coupling hitch. See the pics. Turned out nice, I got lots of compliments on our first trip out with the new setup.

by:

I ordered the safety chains to work with my 20k Reese goosebox and my B&E goose ball. The hooks fit perfect on the B&W chain supports and all the necessary hardware was included.

by:

Great experience and love my B&W Ball and Chain Gooseneck Hitch. As smooth as a ride you can get pulling a 43' 5th wheel camper and easy to connect to the ball.

by:

stress free towing with the Reese goose box. Towing is a breeze and you rest easy knowing that it is hitched. the air ride smooths out the ride.
Lori with trailer was excellent to work with. She made sure I had the correct pinbox and kept me informed.

by:

Had everything I needed to install. I got an old trailer that didn't have any safety chains and this had everything I needed. Was plenty long allowing me to adjust to the length I needed.

by:

Cheerful help at eTrailer evolved into an enjoyable, easy to use vehicle - body-less Model A Ford - hold down system. We use this on the Forest Roads of Idaho.
Great products accompanied with many ways to solve a problem.

by:

Great quality safety chains. Highly rec ommend.

by:

These safety chains are solid as a rock. They were purchased to go with the Reese Elite Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Accessory Kit. The clasps on the chains are extremely difficult to get to snap closed using the safety chain attachments which come with the kit. Difficult but not impossible - more annoyance than problem. Overall, I hope these chains are absolutely never required; but, if they are, I'm confident they will work perfectly.

all is well. The clasps on the chains have eased up a bit and are not nearly so hard to put on as they were at first. They are holding up very well!

by:

These were installed as safety chains on a fifth wheel travel trailer. They were easily installed and appear to be very robust. They have been used multiple times with no issues and I heartily recommend them for anyone needing such a product. Fortunately they have not been needed for their intended purpose!

Excellent, high quality addition

by:

The first order of the chains was lost by UPS. Carol at e trailer got on the case and UPS confirmed it was lost in space. Carol got another order right and received. Great job.
The chains are a great replacement for my rusted old chains.

by:

This is one of those purchases where you have absolutely no regrets. These safety chains are exactly what I was looking for and for a great price. They are much longer than I needed which is great because you can customize them to suit your needs. I did a lot of research before making this purchase. The safety latch provides a worry free installation. I could not recommend this product more.

So, its been well over a year since I purchased my safety chains. My chains look the same as when I first put them on my trailer. They function perfectly as well. I never cut my chain. I used a quick link to tie back any extra length of chain. This way I can keep the chain whole in case I ever need it for a different truck or trailer.

by:

Haven't actually towed with these but will be next week. So far they look and feel very solid and capable. Long enough for the gooseneck with room to spare and they feel like that trailer isn't going anywhere if there is a fubar. Hopefully these will last (rusting) as long as I hope. For the price, very happy.

These have been working great. No rust and handle everything thrown at them in all conditions.

by:

Overkilling maybe but why not. Chains look super duty to go along with my Demco 5th wheel hitch. Thanks

Kevin

3/4/2020

Ive never used chains before on prior 5th wheels but this time I did. These are perfect, chain length great for my hooks from goose neck plate and gives me a sense of more safety and security.

by:

Very easy to attach to trailer. Hooks are a little bit large, making them somewhat difficult to attach to my truck, but they do work as advertised. I haven't had to test them yet by having the trailer break loose, but really I don't want to.

Until Covid curtailed my RVing, the chains performed perfectly. I got a small collapsible step which made it much easier to hook up. Hopefully when all the restrictions are lifted Ill be able to go back to RVing and get more experience with them.

by:

Strong, heavy, durable. Gives me extra confidence pulling a fifth wheel with a ball-style (Anderson) hitch. Safety chains aren't normally used when securing a kingpin fifth wheel hitch, but they're used with gooseneck hitches. I never understood why, but since my connections to the truck are by a ball-style (like a gooseneck or a bumper pull) hitch, I thought it wise to have safety chains too.

by:

etrailer was easy to work with, super fast shipping, accurate order processing, and great products. Thanks. Looking forward to my next order. etrailer got my truck ready for our RV adventures.

by:

Product is great! Wish it would have come included with my Reese Goosebox instead of as an extra option. I had no problems installing them. They were backordered for about three weeks, but they were worth waiting for. The staff at etrailer.com offered me alternative safety chains if I didn't want to wait. They were very good at keeping me informed when they would be available for shipping. Thanks!

by:

Free shipping isn’t free! I purposefully ordered $[XX] in items to qualify for the free shipping offer. Unbeknownst to me, my order languished in a holding pattern until I called to follow up on it being shipped. My two options were to wait to see if it made it on time before we left on a 5 week RV trip or, now, pay the $[XX] to expedite the shipment. Being that the main order was safety chains for our 5th wheel, I did not want to leave our home base without them and did think that a nearly 3 week lead time would be enough time. Nope. But, the additional $[XX] did get them to me in 3 days. I did want to give props to my customer service contact who was very apologetic as to the circumstances and did take a focused effort in making sure the expedited shipping was put into motion.

by:

They work as they should

by:

Nice chains with all the correct hardware for installation..

by:

Much heavier chain than [other vendor] wanted to sell me and $[XX] cheaper per set. Also arrived in a timely manner, totally intact. A local welder will be happy to install. Stay away from Camping world. I cam in with 3 known issues and asked for them to do the work but I needed a cost estimate first. Called for an appointment in April. Couldn't get in until Jube. Came in in June but saud they were 2 weeks out. Left trailer and told them I was leaving in a week for a month long road trip. emailed me an estimate one week into the trip. Ridiculous expensive. Came back and told them no deal. Charged me $[XX] for the time it took to do the estimate. They also would not apply the cost of the estimate to the repair work to be done. Through with [other vendor]. Should have read all the negative reviews online first....tbere are a ton of them. etrailer? Easy to work with, carefully explains what product to get to solve the issue, and tell you how to install. Love etrailer!

by:

I need the peace of mind that these chains provide. My previous chains purchased from an auto store bent at the S and I lost a trailer!! Yes I over-specified by buying these chains from etrailer, but now I sleep at night. You don't want the nightmare of losing your trailer on the road from a double fault from crappy safety chains.

  • Do Safety Chains Come With Reese Goose Box Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter?
Though safety chains to do not come with a Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter such as RP94623 they are available by using the Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit # 49150. If you look at the accompanying photo you can see exactly how they will mount on a Reese Goose Box. I've added links to video reviews of these parts for you to take a look at.

I do have an option for you but for safety reason, we don't recommend using safety cable extensions on this application or with something this large. These are used exclusively for flat-towed vehicles. I instead recommend replacing the safety chains on the trailer entirely with a longer set more suited for your needs. I'm not sure of the exact length you need but we have plenty of length options for a trailer this size. The Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks part # 49150 for example...

If you need a set of safety chains I recommend using the Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit part # 49150. This kit has mounting hardware to mount the chains to the trailer.
