Reese Goose Box Dimensions for Proper Trailer Ride Height with Truck Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

Whats the recommended ball height for the Reese goose box. I have a flatbed with a flush mounted Curt hide away ball that is 41inch to the bed height, and 43.5inch to top of the ball. Im buying a 2019 palomino puma unleashed 384fqs toy hauler, under 16k gross. Thanks

The Goose Box Doesn't specifiy the height required from the ground to the ball. Instead it specifies the height from the coupler connection to the front bottom bolt where the pin box attaches. I've attached photos of these dimensions to assist with the Goose Box # RP85FR.

Bed height can be adjusted at the pin box bolts, with the angle of the connection on the Goose Box, or at the axles of the trailer itself to find the proper fit for your truck and trailer.

I have a 2017 ram 3500 stock height with rails instead of oem puck system. Right now I have a B&W patriot slider and with the Hitch all the way on the lowest setting my 5th wheel is still too high in the nose. I've exhausted my options with the sales team about lifting my 5th wheel to make it more level going down the road. I also have a offset gooseneck ball that goes into my rails I use for my equipment trailers. My question is, will the goosebox actually give me "lower" settings that my lippert 1621 pin box on the "highest" settings and the 17.5" hitch height? Side note, I would love to stop taking a heavy hitch in and out of my truck.

The Goose Box would certainly prevent you from having to take a heavy hitch out of the bed when you aren't towing - but it won't help you adjust the trailer height any more than the stock pin box on your trailer. Have you tried adjusting that at all to a different set of mounting holes?

Does the Reese goose box work on a long bed truck.

Absolutely. The Goose Box is actually a better application for long bed trucks because it doesn't really provide an offset to help with cab clearance on short bed models.

With goose neck adapter can u make a 90 with a 2019 ram 2500 6.5 bed or better to go with the side winder

A Goose Box doesn't change your existing cab clearance at all, so it's unlikely you will be able to make a 90 degree turn with the 6-1/2 foot bed. If you're able to use a standard 5th wheel hitch in the Ram's bed, a much better option would be a Sidewinder Pin Box, which provides all the clearance you need. If your 2019 Ram is equipped with the factory puck system, I highly recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Hitch # RP30918.
