Recommended Routine Lubrication for Reese Goose Box

Question:

Hello I have a Reese goose box on my fifth wheel. Purchased unit about 5 months ago. I have noticed about a month ago that when I am in tow its making a squeaking noises mainly when the road has bumps. I checked my air pressure on the hitch and seems to be 35 pounds when trailer hooked to the truck. What should I do about the noises?

Some amount of noise is to be expected in any towing system, but certainly in a high-weight-capacity 5th wheel towing setup. The psi pressure inside the goose box air spring can be set based on feel, but the 35-40-psi range is an appropriate starting point.

You may simply need to do some of the routine lubrication recommended in the (linked) instructions for model # RP85FR. This is covered on page 6 and indicates that before each use to grease the pivot shaft and to grease the goose ball. The pivot shaft is shown as item 16 in the exploded view diagram on page 1 of the linked instructions.
