Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For An Enclosed Car Hauler V-Nose Trailer

Question:

possible to get Kevin Cs help again? i do not understand why sway is now a problem now that we have the unloaded. The sway make the unit undrivable over 55, and uncomfortable at 55 ! Since talking to Kevin : i put 400 lbs of ballast in the back of truck , moved the car forward a little and it had less sway, not much but noticeable. i did buy the tool Kevin recommended the, the scale e99044. Trailer loaded, level ground, vehicle in place, 800lbs tongue weight. Our truck does have aftermarket springs, rated at 35 more capacity. Also saw on one of your videos to measure the front fender rise: no more than one inch with trailer attached. i like the BandM system, except if you look at the picture , you will see the problem on installation. thank you for your time,

With your trailer tongue having a frame beam running down the center of the tongue the B&W Continuum isn't going to be a viable option. You'll need to look at a hitch like the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System with Shank # C17332. The spring bars are approximately 28-3/8" in length so you'll want to measure how much length you have from the coupler to body of the trailer to see if this will work.

If there's enough length but you can't use the clamp on frame brackets then you can bolt the Chain Hangers for Curt Weight Distribution Systems # C17005 to the frame in order to make it fit. This hitch doesn't come with a hitch ball and requires one with a 1-1/4" diameter shank, for 2" use part # C69FR and for 2-5/16" use part # 19286.

You can also add on friction sway kits to this hitch head using part # 17200 to help reduce sway further. If you want you can install two of these, one on each side of the hitch head. Just remember to release the tension and remove them before backing up.
