Is Play in Handle of Ram Jack Normal that Allows Gears to Not Make Full Contact

Question:

Hello team! The gears on one of these trailer jacks wore out and Im about to replace them. But Im wondering if something else is faulty, either in the design or with the specific jack. The handle moves in and out of the tube by 1/8inch or more, which causes the gears to grip only at the tips of the teeth, accelerating any wear. Thats on my jack, but apparently also on the brand new one that you demonstrate the replacement on. In the replacement video great instructions by the way! at 8:40 it shows the handle poking out just a little bit on the left, and a few seconds later it shows it protruding much further. That means the vertical gear can move out of its ideal place and grip to the horizontal gear. Can that movement be adjusted, reduced? Thanks for addressing this!

The tolerances on trailer jacks is unfortunately not always the tightest like what you have found on yours. Since it can't be adjusted it would be considered to be a design flaw. The correct gear kit you need is the part # TJA-2000S-GR.
