Parts Needed to Convert Drum Brakes to Disc Brakes

Question:

Hi all, I have a Dexter DX 6.6 Drum Actuator I purchased in 2021. I would like to convert over to Disc. Is it possible to use what I have and add a Reverse Lockout Solenoid, or do I just replace the DX 6.6 Mastercylinder with a DX 6.6 Disc Brake Master.

Helpful Expert Reply:

No, since Dexter does not put reverse lockout solenoids on their drum actuators you'd need to use a different actuator like # DX56FR.

From here, you'd need a disc brake kit like # K2HR526D which will work 5,200 lb to 6,000 lb axles with a 6 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern, and a 5 bolt mounting flange.

Finally, you'd need either the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit # HBA16-252-82 if going from electric drum to hydraulic disc, or # HS381-9067 if going from hydraulic drum to hydraulic disc.
