Recommended Equalizer for a 7,000 lbs Trailer

Question:

I am looking yo see if I can get some assistance on picking the correct suspension upgrade for my travel trailer. I am looking at replacing the equalizer and am not sure which one to get. I have a 28-foot Apex that weighs just over 7000 lbs. I am not sure what size axles I have, but I would assume that I need the 8000 lbs equalizer. Is that correct?

Yes, that's a safe assumption. What's going to be the most important thing is the size of your equalizer now. You'll want to make sure the replacement equalizer you purchase is as close to the same dimensions as possible.

The MORryde Shock Absorbing Suspension Equalizers item # MR27ZR you were looking at measures 8" between the horizontal mounting holes, and 3-5/16" between the center of the horizontal mount holes and the vertical mounting hole as you can see in the diagram attached below.

If your current equalizer is taller than 3-5/16" then you will lower the trailer slight, but if it is shorter than 3-5/16" you will slightly raise the trailer.

If you have any additional questions or your equalizer is a completely different size go ahead and email me back and we'll find you the right one.
