Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Base Model

Question:

Hello. I have a Roadmaster All Terrain tow bar. What Roadmaster base plate would I need for a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited base model with factory plastic bumper? Can you recommend an aftermarket steel bumper that I could directly connect the tow bar to? What will I need to connect the Jeep to my motorhome trailer wiring plug for taillights? Thank you

For a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a factory plastic bumper along with a Roadmaster tow bar you would need the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5.

Since we don't currently offer front bumpers so you would want to reach out to Smittybilt. This brand is known for having some models that are rated for flat towing, but you'll need to confirm this with them before purchasing the bumper. You'll also need to note the thickness of the D-Rings on the bumper. Roadmaster makes adapters that will replace the attachment points on your Roadmaster tow bar to connect to the D-Rings on the bumper. The adapters are designed to fit 3/4" thick D-Rings # RM-035 and 1" thick D-Rings # RM-035-1.

For the lighting you'll need the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode wiring kit will allow you to plug into a 7-way on the back of the motorhome and transfer your motorhome's traffic signals through to the tail lights of your Wrangler.

You'll also need to install a supplemental braking system like the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 to activate the brakes in the Wrangler while you're towing. This will have an indicator light so that you can see when the brakes are being applied in the Jeep, but since your Jeep's brake light switch wire isn't useable you'll also need to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490 in order to get the signal.

If you don't currently have safety cables you'll also want to pick some up, like the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs # RM-643.
