Question:

Hi. I need a bike rack for my 80 lb e-bike. Aventure 2. I have a 2013 ford cmax sel. I don’t want to have to lift it up too much cus bike is so heavy. What is available? Just one only. No need to hold 2 bikes.

I have a solution for you but our highest capacity one bike bike rack is the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack item # KU64FR and it tops out at 60 lbs. It is recommended to remove your battery, but I don't see it dropping 20 lbs off of your Aventon E-Bike. This bike rack fits both a class III 2" hitch and both class I and II 1-1/4" hitches.

If you can get your bike down to 66 lbs you will be able to use the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes item # Y36FR for a 2" hitch or item # Y96FR for a 1-1/4" hitch. One of these racks would be ideal because they include an integrated ramp which completely solves your lifting problem. They also have a frame mount design which works great for alternative frame bikes and/or bikes with fenders. The 66 lbs limit is per bike. You can't overload one of the sides because you're only using it for one bike.

The only other option we have for an 80 lbs e-bike is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes item # HLY84FR. This bike rack has an 80 lbs per bike capacity and only works with class III 2" receiver hitches. If your C-Max doesn't have a hitch with a 2" receiver this won't work.

I have linked a couple of review videos below of the OnRamp and Sport Rider SE so you can see the functions of these bike racks.
