Will Hands Free Lift Gate Still Work With Hidden Hitch By Draw-Tite Installed On 2023 BMW X1
Question:
Our BMW 2023 X1 has kick to open for the rear tailgate. This is operated by swinging our feet under the bumper. If I add the DT54YR trailer hitch, would I not have this option any longer?

You will still be able to use the hands free lift gate on your 2023 BMW X1 with the Hidden Hitch by Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT54YR. The kick sensor is located on the rear fascia panel and the receiver will sit in front of the sensor opposite of where you are kicking for the sensor. With the removable portion of the receiver installed you will need to perform the motion very close to either side of the receiver. You may notice one side works better than the other when doing this motion.
I recommend installing the Upgraded Heavy Duty ModuLite Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # C59496 when you install the receiver. This will give you a 4-way flat connector which is the connector most used on small trailer you may tow. This will also allow you to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 on hitch mounted accessories which impair the view of the tail lights on your X1.
