Could Brackets of Curt Multi Fit Hitch # C13702 Mount Vertically

Item # C13702, can the brackets be mounted in a vertical position instead of a horizontal position? I am looking to put this on the back of a Sabre 37FLL strictly for a bike rack.

The side brackets of the Curt multi fit hitch part # C13702 weren't designed to mount vertically but since the crosstube is square there's no reason this wouldn't work. The weight capacity in this orientation would be unknown though.
