Recommended Sway Control for Towing with a 2018 Audi Q7
Question:
We have a 2018 Audi Q7. We are pulling a 2021 Airstream 23 ft with 6300 GVW. Our Audi will not permit weight-distribution device but we would like to install an anti-sway device. To level the hitch we currently use a 4” inch rise. Can ypu recommend an appropriate unit as we are having unacceptable sway primarily from wind. Thank you

To add sway control to your 2018 Audi Q7 towing setup I highly recommend the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000. I really like this unit because it activates the brakes on your trailer (per side as needed) when it senses the trailer start to sway. Not full-on braking, but light stops so it brings the trailer back under control.
This is a higher-end setup but it does install permanently on the trailer and comes with an easy-to-read troubleshooting light in case any of the wiring needs to be looked at. Since this isn't a physical bar like the old-school friction sway control you won't need to concerned about backing up either.
If you want something that's simple, effective, and at a lower price-point then you can use the Curt Friction Sway Control # 17200 instead. This is more of a traditional approach so you'll have to get a ball mount with a small platform attached or weld on this piece # 3442, and then you need to disconnect it prior to backing the trailer up otherwise you will snap that bar and break it.
