Sway Control Needed for a 2018 Audi Q7 That Doesnt Use a Friction Bar or Weight Distribution
Question:
I have a 2018 Audi Q7 with an air suspension. The comment from your website which is below indicates that the #83660 cannot be used when backing up. I assume that it needs to be disingaged. Is there a sway bar without a wt distribution hitch that would not need to be disengaged for backing up? In cases when a weight distribution system cannot be used, a sway bar like the excellent Reese # 83660 is a great option. I do recommend adding one to your trailer to reduce any sway and also improve handling, especially in adverse towing conditions. For the needed ball mount bracket you can use # RP26003. As long as you are looking at the 3.0L model Q7, the vehicle and sway bar will be able to handle your max 7,000 pound camper without issue.

It is correct that the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 does need to be disengaged when backing up to avoid damaging the product.
There is another sway control option that doesn't use the friction bar or a weight distribution system. This is the Tuson Electronic Sway Control System # 335TSC-1000 and it helps control your sway by activating your trailer brakes to counteract any sway that begins to happen. This is compatible with trailers that have 1 - 4 axles and I have attached a review plus the written instructions for you to reference.
