Will Adding Trailer Hitch Receiver, Wiring & Sway Increase Towing Capacity On 2017 Ford Escape?
Question:
Ive got a 17 ford escape with the 2.0. From what Ive found, it can tow up to 3500Lbs with factory tow package or 2000 without. But from what ive read, the factory package is just a hitch, wiring, and sway control. If I were to buy those parts from yall and install, would that give me the 3500Lb. or is there something else im missing about the tow package thats not public knowledge that would still limit me to 2k since its not from the factory.

Just adding a Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866, Wiring # 118715 and a Sway Control # 335TSC-1000 will not automatically allow you to tow a 3,500lb trailer with your 2017 Ford Escape. You will need to consult with your Ford dealer as there is also likely a required transmission cooler required and you will need to determine if there are any other requirements or if you have the correct 3.07 final drive ratio required to tow this much weight.
