Tips For Finding Cold Side of Stop Light Switch Wire on 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. No tow package. RedArc Liberty. Do you have a video on how to connect to the cold side of the brake switch or even the center rear brake light 3rd brake light? I have not been able to gain access to the cold side of the brake switch. Also, the 3rd Brake Light - there seems to 10+ wires going up into the light? All else with the hitch/4way/universal 7way was complete and all the videos were a great help. Thanks,

Unfortunately I do not have a video of finding the coldside of the stop light switch on your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so you'll just need to keep testing the wires going to the stop light switch with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 until you find the one that only gets power when you press the brake pedal.

I don't know which circuit tester you're using but the one with the hook makes it much easier to test those stupid small wires that the OEMs like to use for the brake light switch, and anything that makes it easier while you're playing a game of under-the-dash twister makes things a heck of a lot easier in my experience, especially if you're a bigger guy like me.

If you for some reason cannot find the cold side wire you can use the same circuit tester plus some # 12-1-1 to go from the third brake light wire that only gets power when the brakes are pressed to the red wire on the controller, or worst case you can install a universal stop light switch like # RM-751449 which I included an install video for as well.
