Do I Need To Upgrade The Reese 16,000LB 5TH Wheel Hitch On a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 Puck System?

Question:

looking to purchase a 5th wheel with a GVWR of 16K. I currently have a Reese Hitch installed on OEM puck system 2022 Silverado 3500 short bed, that is rated for 16K. Do I need to increase hitch capability or will current 16K Reese suffice?

You are within the limits of your Reese 16K 5th wheel hitch as long as you do not exceed the 16,000lbs GVWR or the tongue weight rating for your particular 5th wheel. If you are questioning the durability/longevity of the Reese then you are probably best to go ahead and upgrade to a hitch like the B&W Companion Fixed # BWRVK3710 or Slider # BWRVK3775. These hitches have great durability and longevity as they are Made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty. They are also rated for up to 20,000lbs GVWR with up to 5,000lbs of tongue weight and will fit the factory puck system on your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. As you have a short bed it is recommended to use the Slider # BWRVK3775 unless you have a pivoting pin box on your 5th wheel camper.
