How To Add Brakes to a Trailer with Lippert 3,500 Axle

Question:

I have a Lippert 3,500-lb Torsion Idler Trailer Axle. I want to add electric brakes. What is the part number of the brake kit. Will Dexter brakes fit this axle. Thanks

Yes, the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-26-27 or part # 23-468-469 for self-adjusting will work great on a Lippert 3,500 lb axle. In addition to the brakes you'll also need hubs/drum for which I recommend the Dexter Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly part # 84546UC3-EZ. Finally, I do recommend using a junction box # 3375601101 and 7-Way Connector # H20046 to upgrade the wiring as well as a breakaway kit like the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit part # 20400.
