Can the Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch Be Drilled and Bolted
Question:
I have a motorhome with a bolted in hitch. Can I just weld this to the same width as current hitch and bolt it to the frame in the current bolts. Being told DO NOT WELD on a motorhome chassis??

Expert Reply:
The Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch part # C87CR is designed to be welded to the frame of a vehicle. I cannot recommend bolting and drilling unfortunately. The frame will need to be clean and clear of obstructions before welding. In regards to the actual welding, this would need to be done by a trainer professional, make sure precautions are taken such as unhooking the battery. That said, I'm no welding expert so you would need to refer one for these types of questions.
