Determining The Correct Replacement Leaf Springs For A 2021 Keystone Passport Grand Touring TT

Question:

I need to replace leaf springs on a 2021 Keystone Passport travel trailer. The axle is the 3500 lb dexter, but I would like to upgrade the weight rating of the leaf springs. Can you recommend what I can replace them with? Thanks

You could potentially replace your leaf springs with a larger capacity spring but will need to match the length of your current leaf springs to avoid having to remove and reinstall the hangers and rest of the suspension system, which is a giant hassle and a lot more costly than just replacing the springs.

If you have double-eye leaf springs you'll need to measure from the center of one eyelet to the center of the other. If you have slipper springs then you'll need to measure from the center of the eyelet to the end of the top leaf. This will be the "C" measurement in both of the pictures below.

You'll want to get this measurement and then you can look at the larger capacity options in the same length. Upgrading the capacity of the leaf spring will not increase the capacity that the trailer can hold and will give you a stiffer ride so you'll want to keep that in mind when going with a larger capacity option. I've attached a short video below where I'll run you through choosing the correct leaf springs and show you how to install them.

If you want to stick with 3,500lb leaf springs we currently have the following sizes:

23-1/8" # e59SR
25-1/8" # e68SR (Dacromet coating)
27" # e97SR

For 4,000lb leaf springs we currently have the following sizes:

25-1/4" # e57SR
25-1/4" # e93SR (Dacromet coating)
26" # e48SR (Dacromet coating)
26-5/8" # SP-230275 (Slipper Spring)

I want to upgrade the leaf springs to a better quality. Mine already seam flat in just a 2 year period on a 2021 keystone bullet 287qbs. My Question is, Does the "C" measurement change by the spring going flat?

@JerryQ Yes, when leaf springs flatten out they become longer. It's why you have to lift the axle and take the weight off of the spring before taking your measurements. increasing the capacity (a reasonable amount) will give you stiffer springs that are less likely to flatten out over time.
