Best 5th Wheel Hitch Options for a 2012 Ford F-350 Super Duty with OEM Ford Puck System

Question:

Hi. I have a 2012 F350 4wd short bed with the Ford pick system. I am looking to get a fifth wheel hitch. I am thinking a sliding hitch would be a good idea. But, I am uncertain what to choose. Do you have some suggestions on options? Thanks

Thanks for reaching out!

You are correct that a sliding 5th wheel hitch is best for the short bed on your 2012 Ford F-350 because it eliminates the chances of your 5th wheel coming into contact with the back of your track cab.

The B&W Companion # BWRVK3370 is definitely at the top of everyone's list because of how well made it is and how secure and smooth everything rides when hitched up. If you went this direction I know you wouldn't have any complaints!

The only other alternative that can compete with the quality of the Companion is the Demco Hijacker AutoSlide which comes with an 18K rating # DM8550024 as well as a 21K rating # DM8550038. Not only is the hitch well made but it also produces a smooth ride just like the Companion. The thing that really sets it apart though is the gear system underneath which rotates and moves the head back as you make turns. This feature allows you to stay in your truck cab the entire time you're towing instead of having to get in and out of your truck to lock and unlock a manual hitch. The only real down-side to using the Hijacker is that you have to hook back up to your trailer at the exact same angle you disconnected from for everything to line up correctly.

I'm attaching some review videos to check out. Both hitch options are great and I know you'll be happy no matter which way you decide to go.
